OCCI host Bank of England

Omagh Chamber of Commerce and Industry was delighted to provide an Inflation Report briefing by the Bank of England on Friday 4th March. The Bank of England is the central bank for the United Kingdom and its Monetary Policy Committee meets each month to decide on interest rates.

The business briefing and lunch sponsored by the Bank of England was held in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh, where Ms Gillian Anderson, the Northern Ireland Agent addressed Chamber Members and guests from a wide spectrum of business interests.

Ms Anderson gave a detailed illustrated presentation on the state of the economy, including-interests rates, employment, house prices, growth and business/consumer spending and presented the Bank’s recently released Inflation Report projections for future economic growth and inflation. She followed this by answering questions on the presentation and wider economic issues from some of those present.
