Omagh Chamber of Commerce and Industry About Us

Message from the Chamber President
Gerard O'Hanlon

OCCI Chamber PresidentVision for the Chamber.

Firstly I would like to thank and congratulate Marcus for all of his hard work and commitment to the Chamber over the past two years; I have a hard act to follow.

I am looking forward to my tenure as President of OCCI during which I intend to focus on building the membership and therefore strengthening the voice of the Chamber.

Over the past number of years OCCI has concentrated on creating a strong voice for Omagh wherever it is needed, developing networks and contacts throughout all levels of government and the civil service. This will be continuing through the hard work and commitment of our council.

In these challenging times it is important that OCCI concentrates on important local issues. I intend to redouble our efforts in developing Omagh so that we can be fully prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Through growing the strength of the Chamber I intend to maintain the momentum of these important strategic projects:

·    A5 Western Transport Corridor dual carriageway that will make Omagh a true hub for the West.

·    Our planned education campus ensuring quality education for our children into the future.

·    Our new hospital which will give us the opportunity to build services back into our community.

·    Attracting decentralised jobs from Stormont

Along with these exciting opportunities there is the challenge of RPA, how it will function and where the new council Head Quarters will be located. I intend to engage with each of our local political parties to offer help and support wherever necessary to keep our business community informed of the imminent changes that may affect them.

OCCI Our Mission
As the largest, independent business body in the Omagh District our Mission is:

to continue to grow and develop our membership throughout Omagh and the surrounding district
• to develop our range of membership services and ensure that these remain relevant to the needs of our members
• to represent the interests of our members to all appropriate influencers at a local and strategic level and to play a key role in improving the business climate in which our members operate thus leading to improved performance in both home and export markets.

Growing
With a growing membership of more than 100 member businesses, within Omagh town and its surrounding district, the Chamber represents every sector of the business community, from the sole trader to limited companies and across a wide range of sectors. The Chamber welcomes and values input from its members on a range of issues affecting businesses today.

Networking.
Our networking events provide opportunities for business people to meet socially, exchange cards, discuss business, make new contacts at decision-maker level, share problems and meet potential customers and suppliers from a wide range of business sectors. They also provide an opportunity to hear about important business related issues.

 Lobbying
Through our lobbying role the Chamber represents the views of its members at local, regional and national government levels and exerts a steadily growing, direct influence on local commercial and economic issues.

Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a network that's already assisting over 100 members through continued growth and prosperity, and helping to promote better business.
